ROTATIONS 1-6 EXPLAINED: THE 6-2 VOLLEYBALL ROTATION.

Remember that rotations can always be modified by a coach, so long as they are still adhering to staying in rotation


SR ROTATION 1(SETTER IN 1)

(Setter 1 setting)

Offense:

  • RS (or) Setter 2 hits outside for 1

  • OH1 hits RS for 1

Defense:

  • OH1 pulls back to cover Setter 1, & be an option for 1st pass

  • OH1 stays in front of Setter 1

Rotation Positions:

Setter 1 in position 1, OH1 in 2, MB1 in 3, RS (or) S2 in 4,

OH2 (or) DS in 5, Libero in 6



SR ROTATION 2 (SETTER IN 6)

(Setter 1 setting)

Offense:

  • Setter pushes up to front-row, behind RS/S2

  • MB1 on 10ft line

Defense:

  • OH2 drops back to pass

  • Libero shifts to position 6

Rotation Positions:

Setter in 6, OH1/DS in 1, MB1 in 2, RS/S2 in 3,

OH2 in 4, Libero in 5

SR ROTATION 3 (SETTER IN 5)

(Setter 1 setting) (MB2 & Libero IN)

Offense:

  • Setter 1 pulls up to front-row, staying to the left of OH1/DS (a back-row player)

  • OH2 transitions to hit outside after 1st ball is contacted/passed

Defense:

  • OH2 pulls back to pass

Rotation Positions:

Setter 1 in 5, OH1/DS in 6, MB2 in 4, RS/S2 in 2,

OH2 in 3, Libero in 1

SR ROTATION 4 (SETTER IN 1)

(SETTER 2 is setting)

Offense:

  • RS (or) Setter 1 hits outside for 1

  • OH2 hits right side for one

Defense:

  • OH2 pulls back to cover setter 2, and pass in the back-row for 1st contact

Rotation Positions:

Setter 2 in position 1, OH2 in 2, MB2 in 3, RS (or) S1 in 4,

OH1 (or) DS in 5, Libero in 6

SR ROTATION 5 (SETTER IN 6)

(Setter 2 setting)

Offense:

  • Setter 2 pulls up to front-row, staying behind the RS (or) setter 1.

  • MB2 in corner 10ft line, position 2

Defense:

  • OH1 pulls back to pass

  • Libero shifts over in back-row

  • OPP covering/passing deep

Rotation Positions:

Setter 2 in position 6, OH1 in 4, MB2 in 2, RS (or) S1 in 3,

OH2 (or) DS in 1, Libero in 5



SR ROTATION 6 (SETTER IN 5)

(Setter 2 setting) (MB1 and Libero IN)

Offense:

  • Setter 2 pulls up to front row, ensuring to stay to the left of OH2/DS (a back-row player)

  • MB1 can hit outside for 1 & OH1 hits middle for one, OR MB1 instantly transitions to middle and OH1 transitions to outside after 1st contact is made

Defense:

  • OH1 pulls back to pass

Rotation Positions:

Setter 2 in position 5, OH1 in 3, MB1 in 4, RS (or) S1 in 5,

OH2 (or) DS in 6, Libero in 1
